St. Louis is one of two test markets for McDonald’s Shakin’ Flavor Fries, free through Sunday.

Here’s how it works: Buy fries at McDonald’s, and get one of three seasoning flavor packets: garlic Parmesan, spicy buffalo or zesty ranch. Pour that seasoning on the fries, shake it up and eat. The flavor packets are available at all St. Louis-area McDonald’s.

After Sunday, buy the seasoning for 19 cents, or get one free with a large value meal. A St. Louis McDonald’s spokeswoman said deals also will be available on the restaurant’s smartphone app starting Tuesday.

There are 160 St. Louis-area McDonald’s. Three California markets also are testing the fry flavors. The seasoning packets have been available in Asia since 2005, according to a McDonald’s press release.
