New job news!

11 Apr

Friday the 13th is my last day at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and on Monday I start a new and exciting job at Infuz where I’ll be a social engagement strategist (fancy, right?).

Leaving a newsroom was not an easy decision to make, but I’m looking forward to all sorts of new challenges and fun. This also means I have to say farewell to the Weatherbird, the best bird a girl could hope to work with. Really. If you’re in St. Louis, there’s a goodbye-and-good-luck shindig Thursday night.

(This is actually old-ish news — I announced it last week on Twitter and Facebook. Tonight I remembered I hadn’t posted anything here. Oops.)

My interview at the Chicago Tribune

12 Jul

I heard a rumor today about myself. Maybe this is how Kathy Griffin feels.

Someone told me I’d interviewed at the Chicago Tribune and she was upset that I hadn’t told her since, you know, she’s in Chicago. The person in question found out because she was asked by a friend of a friend for a reference; she said she gave a good one, and I have no doubt it was. (Didn’t the Trib just lay off more than 80 people?)

For the record, I’ve never interviewed at the Trib. Or any Chicago media outlet. But I hope I get the job anyway. I also hope it’s a job I want; I probably should have hoped for that first.
