24th time’s the charm?

20 Feb

A woman in Indiana has been married 23 times. 23! She’s 68 and has been single for the last 12 years. Let’s assume she got married for the first time when she was 18. That leaves 23 marriages in 38 years. On average, each marriage lasted 1.5 years, from the altar to the divorce papers.

And she says she would get married again.

One is not the loneliest number

One of my friends is determined to find a man and settle down. White picket fence, 2.5 kids, baking cookies, the works. Finding that relationship is her No. 1 priority.

I don’t get it.

I don’t understand her logic, her motivation. I’m not against relationships — not at all. I’m pretty much a big mushy-hearted romantic. (I know, I make myself sick sometimes.) But when your only goal is finding a man just for the sake of being in a relationship? That I don’t get. I’d rather sit at home with the cat than prowl the local bars looking for Mr. Right Now.

While surfing the Web the other day, I stumbled across QuirkyAlone.net, and identified with its description right away. Take the quiz, and see if it’s as accurate describing you as I thought it was with me:

How quirkyalone are you?
Your score was 105. Very quirkyalone:
Relatives may give you quizzical looks, and so may friends, but you know in your heart of hearts that you are following your inner voice. Though you may not be romancing a single person, you are romancing the world.
