St. Louis Symphony talks (and plays) like pirates

Sept. 19 is Talk Like a Pirate Day, and the St. Louis Symphony is celebrating.

Powell Hall, the symphony’s home, was established as the St. Louis Theater — a movie theater. In a call to those days, the symphony is providing the soundtrack to a few movies as the films play on the big screen.

The symphony will debut “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” (the second in the “Pirates” series) on Friday at Powell Hall.

The symphony also will provide the soundtrack for “Gladiator” in October and “The Godfather” in March.
