Injured Army Ranger to drop puck at Blues game

Sgt. 1st Class Cory Remsburg will drop the puck at Tuesday night’s Blues game.

On his 10th deployment to Afghanistan, Remsburg, a Ritenour High School graduate, was hit by a roadside bomb and suffered a severe head injury. President Barack Obama told Rembsburg’s story during the 2014 State of the Union address.

“Like the Army he loves, like the America he serves, Sgt. 1st Class Cory Remsburg never gives up and he does not quit,” Obama said, drawing a long standing ovation. In the gallery, Remsburg stood and waved, giving a thumbs-up to the crowd.

Sgt. Remsburg watched Tuesday’s morning skate and visited the locker room, where he met the team, including defenseman Barret Jackman.

Blues captain David Backes tried to put the game in perspective after meeting Remsburg.
