Is #HockeyAtBusch possible?

3 Jun

#HockeyAtBusch, a year-old Twitter hashtag, gained traction again Monday night, trending in St. Louis. Fans tweeting the hashtag want just that: An outdoor St. Louis Blues hockey game at Busch Stadium.

It’s not unimaginable: In the past year, Busch has staged international soccer, college football and, of course, baseball.

Outdoor hockey games, including those at baseball stadiums, are not new either. The National Hockey League’s 2014 “stadium series” included games at Yankee Stadium and Dodger Stadium in January.

The St. Louis Blues have expressed interest in hosting the Winter Classic, which is traditionally played outdoors on New Year’s Day. The venue for the 2015 game has not been announced, but St. Louis is unlikely since the Washington Capitals are the home team.

The Blues have not yet played an outdoor game.

St. Louis Blues right winger T.J. Oshie really wants to be on the cover of “NHL 15″ video game. Failing that, he’s trying his hand at basketball, baseball and football. The St. Louis Blues put together a series of videos to help Oshie’s efforts.

I think he nailed that backup quarterback position.

St. Louis Blues right winger T.J. Oshie cut his hair Tuesday afternoon.

For the hockey player that’s been making heart-stopping moves all year (Remember that Olympics shootout?), this one caused heartbreak and angst among many of his fans.

Take a deep breath, folks. This haircut is not expected to affect Oshie’s hockey game. Oshie’s fiancée, Laren Cosgrove, posted an in-progress photo of the haircut.

Injured Army Ranger to drop puck at Blues game

Sgt. 1st Class Cory Remsburg will drop the puck at Tuesday night’s Blues game.

On his 10th deployment to Afghanistan, Remsburg, a Ritenour High School graduate, was hit by a roadside bomb and suffered a severe head injury. President Barack Obama told Rembsburg’s story during the 2014 State of the Union address.

“Like the Army he loves, like the America he serves, Sgt. 1st Class Cory Remsburg never gives up and he does not quit,” Obama said, drawing a long standing ovation. In the gallery, Remsburg stood and waved, giving a thumbs-up to the crowd.

Sgt. Remsburg watched Tuesday’s morning skate and visited the locker room, where he met the team, including defenseman Barret Jackman.

Blues captain David Backes tried to put the game in perspective after meeting Remsburg.
