Opera Theatre sings ‘Happy Birthday’ to St. Louis

13 May

This story originally appeared on RealTime/STL.

The Opera Theatre of St. Louis joined St. Louis’ birthday celebration Tuesday night.

The “surprise” Spring Sing chorus, which included dozens of singers from the St. Louis community, swarmed Kiener Plaza ahead of the St. Louis Cardinals game.

The chorus sang “Anvil Chorus” from Verdi’s “Il trovatore”; “Hail Poetry” from Gilbert and Sullivan’s “The Pirates of Penzance”; “God Bless America”; “Happy Birthday St. Louis”; and “Meet Me in St. Louis.”
